Boxing gloves are available in a variety of sizes, and for someone new to the sport it can be difficult to understand which size glove is best for you. Boxing gloves are measured in ounces (oz), with the most common being 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz, 16oz, and 18oz. The size glove that you purchase will depend on your size, and what you are using the gloves for.

Boxing Glove Weight Guide*
- Weight Range: 12 to 18 ounces or more
- Purpose: Build strength, endurance, and technique during training sessions.
- Usage: Bag work, mitt work, and other training drills to simulate competition conditions and add resistance to workouts.
- Weight Range: 14 to 18 ounces
- Purpose: Provide adequate padding and protection for controlled sparring sessions.
- Usage: Sparring sessions with partners to practice techniques and timing while minimizing the risk of injury.
- Weight Range: 8 to 10 ounces
- Purpose: Maximize speed, precision, and impact during actual fights.
- Usage: Official boxing matches where fighters need speed, agility, and maximum impact.
